TANK-GARCIA, AFTER SALE || FIGHTHYPE.COM

NOTES FROM SURFACE BOXED: TANK-GARCIA, AFTER LOST

Gervonta Davis is a star.

Seems like I have to say it every time a Baltimore native gets into a fight.

However, to be honest, I received a small fee from drilling home at the time. It serves to remind the all-important, useless boxing media (and fans who buy whatever the media puts out in public) that they’re so insignificant. any.

These people have buried Davis in criticism for years. They say his performance is weak, his championship is fake. They knocked him out of their hypothetical pound-for-pound rankings. They practically arrive in moldy shorts whenever they have to report any negative situation outside of the ring involving Davis.

But none of that matters.

Davis is still selling out homes– eight games in a row (at seven different locations) to over 19,000 paying spectators Saturday at Capital One Arena in Washington DC. And, with the rumors swirling around this match, he’s garnering star-level attention, the kind that even chronic Tank Davis media skeptics have to crawl all over for the special right to Tweet from the press.

Only a real star can deliver an unmistakable sense of big fighting in a match where he is a lover of -1600 bets.

Sure, pay-per-view buying rates aren’t superstar levels yet, and they’re likely to be similarly modest for this batch. But first crossing the threshold to become the next level star in the pay-per-view space often requires an able party B. Davis can find that in Ryan Garcia if/when that game is in April.

Currently, Gervonta Davis is said to be the biggest boxing star in America. No doubt he’s in the Top 3 at least. And his success comes despite obvious attempts to bury him.

Others may find out why when it comes to his appeal, but I would imagine that, like any boxing star of the past, he has a fan-friendly style. and the inclination to achieve great success. It’s definitely NOT that he has the “right” belt around his waist or is represented by the “right” management team.

As for the fight itself?

I have told people for the longest time that this match is not the absolute mismatch that the media has painted.

While it’s likely that Davis will eventually capture and stop Garcia, it’s downright disrespectful to relentlessly dismiss the possibility and worthiness of the great Dominican battle. People like Garcia, with their steely determination, control, efficiency and self-awareness of what they do best in the ring, are never left out. Garcia’s 2022 is brilliant and he has earned the right to this big fight. Stage = Stage.

And to those who are assuming Garcia lacks a heart and pretending to escape another blow– what can I say? The disparagement on social networks clearly shows who has and who has never been punched. The guy was out on his feet. The fact that he was able to stay upright and even roll back to his corner is a miracle and a credit to his determination as a man. He doesn’t know where he is. It’s a good stop, no matter who makes the decision.

Saturday’s performance was a classic Tank Davis performance. He fought evenly in close quarters (despite having three horribly wide pro-Tank scorecards), sizing everything and picking his corners, until he was able to take a hit. shoot. He’s incredibly confident in his ability to wrap up his show when he finally gets the right perspective and opportunity. And, while it may have put him at a disadvantage against someone with the knowledge to give him the lead and then stifle his ability to land that killer shot, he has yet to meet who can withstand the fire he carries. That may or may not change in the future. For now, however, Davis is mercilessly efficient and effective. Boxing fans are appreciating this fact while the media gets caught up in their feelings about this man.

Expect bigger and better things to come.

By the way, did you notice that I went through this entire summary and only mentioned Ryan Garcia once? That’s because Tank-Ryan doesn’t happen in April.

Notes under the card:

– Non-experts on social media and across all WordPress blogs were quick to criticize Boots Ennis after he won every minute of all twelve rounds against Karen Chukhadzhian on the Tank sub-card – Garcia. The same effeminate bloggers and powerful fakers who hailed Ennis as the next great figure are now criticizing him for the performance. They have a lot of theories about why he looks lousy on Saturday night– and honestly, they all hold water like a macaroni strainer. The reality is that Boots is facing an unknown entity in Chukhadzhian, who turns out to be a tough guy with a pointed chin and clumsy, mobile mannerisms. If anything, Boots was putting too much pressure on, like a guy reading too many pieces of his own press. However, he is the same person we have seen. Everyone needs to stop trying to be an expert.

– When people say that this Tank-Garcia card is completely mismatched, I point to Rashidi Ellis- Roiman Villa is not a mismatch at all. Villa is a heavyweight boxer who is very tough. Furthermore, I don’t trust Ellis 100%. I thought Ellis made a tight decision by building an early lead, but he was clearly beaten and finished late in the game, so the loss wasn’t an insult. for any sensitivities.

– Demetrius Andrade started quickly ahead of Demond Nicholson in his super-middleweight debut. It was almost as if he had finally learned a lesson about the entertainment value that goes hand in hand with charisma. Then he reverted to Demetrius Andrade. Another safe decision, safety first and completely meaningless for Boo-Boo.
