Switching list for the classic square role-playing game SaGa Frontier 2 Surfaces online
Square Enix regularly releases new (and old) RPGs – with games like Chronicles of DioField and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII to look forward to later this year. If these games aren’t exciting enough yet, it looks like another classic could be remade.
As spotted by the Twitter account @asiangameprints (via Nintendo Everything), a listing recently appeared on Play-Asia for SaGa Frontier 2 – was originally released by Squaresoft on PlayStation in 1999/2000. This includes listings for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, with an “official release date” expected next month on August 25.
Here is the description of Play-Asia:
“Saga Frontier 2 introduces a complete renewal of the RPG genre. The traditional desktop polygonal fixtures are replaced by lush hand-drawn watercolor graphics supported by an inspirational soundtrack. Combining both freedom and linearity, this title uses a Multi-Scenario System that gives players unparalleled freedom in choosing the scenario they want to play while other scenarios intertwine. Complementing this feature are three innovative battle modes: Duel, Team and Strategy.Depending on the chosen model, the player can control an individual character, a team, or several. units fight in battles, bringing depth and precision to battle sequences.”
Square Enix has been working on building this classic RPG series in recent years – with the arrival of last year SaGa Frontier Remastered on Nintendo Switch.
