Suzuki GSX-8R 2024 launched in Malaysia, priced at RM 53,800
Joining its nude sports cousin, Suzuki GSX-8Sin Malaysia is Suzuki GSX-8R 2024 sports car, priced at RM53,800. With the introduction of the GSX-8R, along with the RM50,800 GSX-8S and The V-Strom 800 Adventure-tourer is priced at RM60,800This completes Suzuki Malaysia’s trio of midsize motorcycles in the Malaysian market.
The GSX-8R is powered by the same engine as the GSX-8S, with a 776 cc liquid-cooled parallel twin with DOHC. With a 270-degree crankshaft and main balancer, the GSX-8R produces 82 horsepower at 8,500 rpm and maximum torque of 78 Nm at 6,800 rpm.
Equipped with the Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS) that reduces effort on the clutch lever, the GSX-8R sends power to the rear wheel via a six-speed transmission and final chain drive. The engine and transmission are controlled by Suzuki’s Intelligent Driving System (SIRS) providing advanced electronic rider assistance systems including the three-level Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS), Suzuki traction control system (STCS) with four levels including “off”, Ride-by- Electronic throttle system, two-way quickshifter, Suzuki Easy Start System and Low RPM Assist.
Also standard is a dual-channel ABS system with dual four-piston radial-mounted front brake calipers combined with 310mm diameter brake discs that stop the front wheels. The rear wheel is equipped with a 240 mm diameter brake disc stopped by a single-piston sliding caliper.
The suspension on the GSX-8R uses a Hitachi Astemo unit with SFF-BP (Separate Function Fork – Large Piston) inverted fork and preload-adjustable monoshock. If the name is unfamiliar, Hitachi Astemo is the brand owner of Showa suspension systems.
Seat height on the GSX-8R is set at 810 mm with a weight said to be 205 kg carrying 14 liters of fuel in the tank.
