Super Wild Card Weekend Highlights: Seahawks Lead 49ers


NFL Super Wild Card weekend is in full swing!

Currently on FOX, the 7th seed of NFC Seattle Seahawks football team fighting the 2nd seed San Francisco 49ers. After that, AFC took center stage, as the number 5 seed Los Angeles charger face 4 seeds Jacksonville Jaguar (8:15 p.m. ET).

Set alarm

After the Seahawks won a treble in first possession, the Niners eased down the field on their first drive, finishing with a goal and an early 3-0 lead.

Find a rhythm

Once again, Seattle took a three-goal win in the latter possession.

Then San Francisco extended the lead to 10-0 after going 85 yards in five innings. Christian McCaffrey started the race with a 68-yard monster dash, surging past it by spinning in a short touchdown pass from the rookie quarterback Brock Purdy.

Entering Saturday, the Niners won 25 consecutive playoffs when leading by 10 points or more.

The Seahawks closed the gap early in the second half, 10-7, thanks to a score of 7 yards from Kenneth Walker.

New leader!

Seattle took a 14-13 lead on the next lap, thanks to an amazing score at 50 yards from DK Metcalf.

Both teams swapped goals before the break to keep the game on a point, 17–16.

Power star

Purdy scored a one-yard goal midway through the third half to put the Niners back at the top with a 23-17 scoreline.

The 49ers are 5-2 in the wilds in the Super Bowl era and 3-0 since 2002.

Third-string rookie quarterback Purdy has done a stellar job so far leading a talented 49ers strike that features a rerun of McCaffrey, the receiver Deebo Samueltight ending George Kittle and recipients Brandon Aiyuk. Purdy also had one of the best attacking lines in the league to defend him, leading with a left tackle Trent Williams.

Entering the post-season, San Francisco boasts the top defense in the league statistically and has the best 13-plus revenue differential in the NFL.

On the other side, the Seahawks have reached post-season for the 10th time of Pete Carroll’s 13-year tenure after a resurgent season, thanks to the quarterback. Geno Smith and a young, opportunistic defense.

Smith ended the regular season with the highest completion rate in the NFL, connected to 69.8% of his passes.
