Sudan: World Bank supports 100 million USD in case of emergency |

The shortage despite the generosity

The allocation has been provided by the World Bank-administered Sudan Transition and Recovery Support Trust Fund (STARS), which is supported by the European Union, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Sweden, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Netherlands, Norway, Canada, Italy, Finland, Spain, Ireland and the Peace and State Building Fund administered by the World Bank.

However, despite its significant contribution, WFP is still asking for at least $266 million more through the end of the year to reach more than 10 million vulnerable people each year.

Since the beginning of 2022, WFP has reached 4.8 million people across Sudan with lifesaving food or cash and nutrition assistance, school meals and livelihood opportunities.
