Subsidized diesel engine control system SKDS 2.0 – now has one million fleet tags for transporting goods
A total of one million diesel vehicle tags are subsidized under the policy subsidized diesel control system 2.0 (SKDS 2.0) is now available to companies involved in the transportation of goods, New Straits Times reported.
Domestic trade and cost of living minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said the initiative was one of the measures taken by five oil and gas companies participating in the implementation of the SKDS 2.0 programme. According to the report, the target is to meet the demand for 23 types of vehicles eligible under the SKDS 2.0 program and this will benefit 410,000 vehicles.
“Today, we received commitments from oil and gas companies; They provided one million fleet cards. This means that oil companies will always have supply as soon as the application is made,” Armizan said, adding that the mechanism to adjust diesel prices after implementation of targeted subsidies will be Ministry of Finance determined.
Earlier this week, 5 petroleum companies issued 90,000 subsidized gasoline transportation cards under the subsidized diesel control system 2.0 (SKDS 2.0) program, with 28,000 trucking companies having registered and received approvals as of May 22.
Meanwhile, the KPDN Minister also said today that applicants who want to receive diesel subsidies can apply for subsidized diesel control system 2.0 (SKDS 2.0) or Budi Madani, but not both.
Armizan said SKDS 2.0 applies to companies, while the Budi Madani program is for farmers, smallholders and others.
The types of vehicles approved to receive diesel subsidies under the SKDS scheme were decided by an inter-ministerial committee and also involved associations and stakeholders, Star quoted Armizan as saying.
