Subaru Forester facelift 2023 now available in Malaysia – 2.0L CVT SUV, Eyesight GT Edition will cost RM196,000

The Subaru Forester facelift has quietly entered the Malaysian market and we caught sight of the device on display at TC Subaru’s PJ showroom.

The mid-life refresh for the fifth generation Forester first appeared in June 2021. It’s a literal upgrade, as all the changes are on the front end. Headlights are the easiest way to spot FL – the car’s eyes are much sharper now; the new clusters have a deep cut at the inner end, with the main LED projector being flanked by LED daytime running lights.

The lights pointing to a grille appear larger and bolder in both shape and style. The outline of the grille is glossy black instead of chrome, and the chrome ‘wings’ for the logo are now very minimal – just two small lines instead of one. full-width item embracing the Subaru badge.

The Forester’s front bumper has been reconfigured to match. There are ’embossed’ sections below the headlights for a more 3D effect (bordered with aftermarket black stickers here, see first look) and the fog lamp border has three chrome-plated accents. This GT version features more black accents to create a larger bumper effect, along with a full-width silver trim.

The rear end of the facelift is unchanged, so is the GT Edition kit for the rear, except for the additional black pieces just above the reflectors. Like the front, the lower section has a silver trim surround with a cutout for the single exhaust. The GT version rides on two-tone 18-inch wheels with 225/55 Bridgestone Dueler tires.

Inside, it’s all very familiar, but the GT Edition comes with quilted leather seats in the center and gray patches on the sides.

Subaru’s Eyesight ADAS package is included along with seven airbags.

There are no changes under the hood, where you’ll find a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated boxer-4 engine that produces 156 hp at 6,000 rpm and 196 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. minute. The FB20 unit is paired with a Lineartronic CVT with seven-speed manual mode (and paddle shifters on the steering wheel) and Subaru’s signature symmetrical AWD system, which makes the Forester more rugged than the average urban SUV. .

There are plenty of driving modes in this SUV, such as X mode with Snow and Dirt modes, along with downhill control and active torque vectoring, plus SI-Drive which offers drive modes. Smart and Sports. Acceleration from 0-100 km / h in 10.3 seconds and a maximum speed of 193 km / h.
