Australian Subaru is celebrating selling 300,000 of its iconic examples forester SUV since it was introduced in the Australian market in 1997.
In contrast, Honda sold 238,944 units CR-V from its launch in 1997 until the end of 2022.
The Subaru Forester has now been sold locally for more than 25 years and has gone through five major generations.

Fourth generation Forester
Over the years, Subaru offered turbocharged petrol versions of the GT and later the XT. The latest generation is the first to not offer a turbo option, although it is the first with a hybrid powertrain available.
Subaru has also ditched the turbo-diesel engine, with the latest Forester no longer offering such an engine option.
The Forester is still selling well, although it’s no longer the best-selling car in its segment like it was from 2008 to 2011.

Before the upgrade, the fifth generation Forester
In January 2023, Subaru sold a total of 1370 Foresters, making it the sixth best-selling midsize SUV in Australia.
It was sold out by Mazda CX-5 (sales 2189), TOYOTA RAV4 (sold in 1958), Mitsubishi Outlander (sales 1674), Hyundai Tucson (sales 1615) and other car (1572 sales).
