I remember watching this trailer when it was first released and it felt like a statement of intent, where the intent was, “We’re not going to be Star Wars Galaxies.” The first twist in the Star Wars MMO is notable for supporting role-playing as all sorts of characters in the universe, allowing you to be a humble Tattooine cabinet maker if you want to be, and initially making for the hard-to-get Jedi role. So here’s The Old Republic, where the cabinets are pre-made and opening them will cause the Jedi to pour out dozens of them.
Looking at it today, it has the feeling of being “all the star wars ever” and also Star Wars 2009. The war is taking place in a large, pointless hall. filled with columns. The messy, acrobatic sword fights don’t really exist in the more recent sequel trilogy. The slow-motion lightsaber dodge doesn’t feel like any other kind of Star Wars, but it’s certainly been around for a while. The main Jedi boy has a haircut very similar to the prequel trilogy.
BioWare says that they will be releasing all of their “classic” cinematic trailers in 4K, and another trailer is already available, which is Duel Of The Fates themed and honestly, the characters feel Looks like they might be called Darth Moll, Hams Olo, and his ship, the Willenium Falcon.
