SsangYong Torres EVX: Electric SUV battery, detailed powertrain


Mobile KGformerly known as SsangYong Motor, has fully revealed its electric version Torres SUV at this year’s Seoul Mobility Show and confirmed it will use lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries from Chinese giant BYD.

According to the report of Korean newspaperthe Torres EVX was on display alongside a host of other electric SUV concepts that the Korean automaker aims to launch before 2025.

The Torres EVX is said to launch in Korea and Europe in the second half of 2023. It costs around ₩50 million (~AU$57,500) in South Korea.

The Burning Torres is now preparing to go to Australia in late 2023 or early 2024, with an electric version on the local division’s radar.

The KG Mobility Torres EVX is available in two trim levels in Korea, both equipped with engines single electric motor manufacture 150kW power and a LFP battery 73.4 kWh. Claimed WLTP range is 500km.

KG Mobility has also overhauled the interior, installing a curved glass panel with dual 12.3-inch screens and wire-mounted gearshifters.

On the safety front, the Torres EVX comes with automatic emergency braking (AEB), lane keep assist, lane departure warning, lane centering, driver attention monitoring, and tire pressure monitoring. .

A total of seven exterior paint colors are available, with some colors optional with the black roof. There are also two interior color combinations too.

As mentioned above, SsangYong is officially changed its name to KG Mobilityand the company’s president previously said it would also rebrand its vehicles.

The company switched the models to the logo it used in the 1990s, like two circles in a larger circle, instead of the wing-like logo it used in recent years or the logo. KG Mobility’s company.

However, the Torres EVX has a KG Mobility badge on the rear trunk, while a wing-like logo is found on its center cap.

SsangYong was saved from bankruptcy by a consortium led by steel conglomerate KG Group in 2022 with Korean newspaper quote of ₩950 billion (~$1.1 billion).

The company has been taken over by the court since April 2021, after its parent company Mahindra & Mahindra failed to find new investors amid the pandemic and financial difficulties.

The company’s home life has been troubled for years, and it never seems to have long-term stable parents.

Daewoo bought a controlling stake in the company in 1997, only to sell it in 2000 when it was experiencing dangerous financial difficulties of its own.

It went through a tumultuous couple of years under Chinese ownership, with SAIC Motor acquiring 51% in 2004 but walking away in 2009 and leaving it in the take-up position.

Mahindra & Mahindra was the next parent company to adopt SsangYong, acquiring a 70% controlling stake for 523 billion won in 2011.
