Australian insurrance Company Direct Budget Decides rifle through global file cabinets in August this year to find the maximum cost of speeding ticket around the world. In the company’s home market Australia, skirunning Fines vary depending on the state where a person is arrested. Authorities in New South Wales, where Sydney is located, will fine you $2,350 AUD ($1,682 US) for running over 45 km/h over the limit, while Victoria, where Melbourne is located, up to $793 AUD ($568 US) for a similar speed – but this is all before the mandatory license is suspended, which will cost violators more.
Outside of Oz, some countries apply flat rates, others rely on drivers’ basic income to fines as a way to ensure rich people don’t consider speeding tickets just an inconvenience on their timing. In the second case, Budget Direct uses average national income as a criterion to gauge the average size of a speeding ticket. Sudan has the lowest fixed rate. In either case, the company does not cover additional costs such as recidivism, being caught racing or reckless driving.
According to the Budge Direct charts, USA takes the crown for all of North America, our max is $2,000, but the chart doesn’t pinpoint the exact state.
