Sony announces new set of professional studio headphones: MDR-MV1. These new open rear studio monitor headphones give listeners a wide frequency range and a sense of the soundstage.

They are best suited for studio mixing and mastering, as they feature an open design, high-resolution reproduction, 24 Ohm impedance, and up to 80 kHz frequency response. The detachable cable adapter and headset are made from machined aluminum.
According to Sony, the open characteristic of the MDT-MV1 reduces reflected sound and eliminates acoustic resonance while delivering high-quality surround sound. The new Sony headphones can have a frequency response of up to 80kHz, which is much higher than what the human ear can hear.

The MDR-MV1 headphones are very light, weighing 7.07 ounces when the cable is unplugged. Sony says the headphones feature breathable and lightweight ear cushions to ensure comfort even after hours of wearing.
These headphones are designed to produce spatial sound, which is said to feel like in 3D. Compared to traditional stereo, spatial sound has increased its dimension. But to enjoy spatial sound correctly, you must have the right audio equipment.
Movies and music released in recent years have added spatial sound, but it’s not always possible for the average listener and moviegoer to enjoy an immersive audio experience. Most TVs, stereos, smartphones, tablets, and headphones don’t have the technology needed to deliver spatial sound.
