Sony adds Animal Eye AF for video to its a7C, ZV-E10 cameras with firmware update 2.00: Digital Photography Review

Sony has announced several new firmware updates for its a7C and ZV-E10 camera systems. In addition to the overall improved performance, the 2.00 firmware updates also bring animal-based autofocus (Animal Eye AF) to both cameras during video recording.

Starting with the a7C first, Sony has added a new USB Streaming option so you can use the camera as a webcam when connected via USB to a computer. New is also the ability to use Animal Eye AF when recording movies — which was previously limited to still images. Sony says the update also improves the camera’s overall operational stability, which sounds like marketing saying ‘we’ve eliminated a few bugs.’

Moving on to the ZV-E10 for which Sony is no longer taking orders, firmware version 2.00 adds the option to use Animal Eye AF in video, fixing an issue where Touch Shutter does not work and resolves the overall operational stability of the Camera.

Both updates are available to download for free for macOS and Windows computers on Sony’s website. Here are the links for each camera.
