Some Trainers are worried about Pokémon Scarlet and Violet returning to “Traditional” Catch Mechanics.

Last week saw the reveal of Generation 9 of Pokémon – Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet – for Nintendo Switch.

We’ve learned a bit about these games since the initial reveal, but there’s one detail that a lot of coaches are still wondering about. Although we know the game will be “open world” and the battles will be similar Pokémon Legend: Arceuslooks like the method of catching Pokémon may be going back to the old “traditional” ways.

Eagle-eyed trainers have noticed how Official game page for Scarlet and Violet, mention how you’ll now be able to experience the “real fun” of the series by “fighting wild Pokémon to catch them”. Here is the exact passage where this is mentioned:

“Various towns blend seamlessly into the wilderness without borders. You’ll be able to see Pokémon of this region in the sky, in the sea, in the woods, in the streets — everywhere! You’ll have can experience the true joy of the Pokémon series — battling wild Pokémon to catch them — now in an open-world game that players of all ages can enjoy.”

It brought up a lot of discussion on social media. While some players weren’t fans of the new catch mechanics in Pokémon Legends: Arceus at first, many have grown to love them and believe it’s the only way to continue the series.

We also love the new fishing mechanics – praising them as “addictive” in Our very own Nintendo Life review of Pokémon Legends: Arceus. How will you feel when the next main games go back to the old way of catching Pokémon? Do you like the new mechanics in the latest entry? Please leave your thoughts below.
