Sub Club of the Month
One Pokemon Unite Subscription service is coming soon, and it doesn’t look great on paper based on what they are offering.
This is what a huge number 8.99 per month (current estimate is 1,150 yen, to be finalized) will get you Pokemon Unite registration (Thanks for the info from Dotesports), above some of the streaming channel’s monthly fees:
- 40 gems (premium currency) per day (at the lowest purchase tier, $1 for 60 gems)
- “Holowear of the Month” (character skin – this month is for Greedent)
- Two license to test skin every week
- Two license trials for the characters per week (Wigglytuff and Absol shown in the first month)
- New portraits and quick chat cosmetics
- 10% off Coach Cosmetics (and a Hoopa Day Coach Outfit Bonus)
All in all, it seems like an expensive way to get people to spend more money than a bonus. This rests on the micro-reaction system (which still makes its way into the game through organized item leveling: a practice some have adopted) and the season-passing mechanics, which has a soundtrack high-class. With complex tests considered “privileged”, it’s like a first draft.
Pokemon Unite have been struggling to deliver hardcore content for a while outside of new premium characters to buy, cosmetic offering login events, and gimmicky seasonal modes, all of which are the same. Even many of their skins are on the low end, including the monthly premium Pokemon Unite registered cosmetics: just Greedent wearing a bow tie and a berry hat (which, admittedly, would make Malibu Stacy jealous). There is currently no start date.
I still come back from time to time to check each seasonal meta, but this Pokemon Unite subscription service as it is currently does nothing for me.
