Rarely is a landscape photo complete when you take it; most such images require some degree of editing to produce the finished product. If you’re new to landscape photography and want to improve your work, check out this great video tutorial that discusses some of the most common landscape photo editing mistakes and what you can do to avoid or fix them.

Without a doubt, the most common mistake I see newer landscape photographers make when editing their photos is simply overdoing it, especially when it comes to color. There’s a fine line between a striking photo and a flashy photo, and you’re better off doing a little less, especially with things like the saturation slider. If you find yourself struggling a bit with that, get in the habit of using the before/after function (the backslash key in Lightroom) to keep track of how far you’re pushing your edit.
