YouTube channels dedicated to photography and videography are big business, with some advertising having hundreds of thousands or even millions of subscribers. There’s a lot of money flowing around, and so there can be a lot of controversy about what can or can’t happen behind the scenes. This amazing video features one of photography’s biggest YouTubers lifting the curtain and revealing some insightful facts about the industry.
Coming to you from Taylor Jackson, this excellent video discusses some of what goes on behind the scenes in the photo industry. I have to admit that I sometimes laugh when I see a comment accusing Fstoppers of being paid by a certain brand to surreptitiously give good reviews of their products. We have a very strict policy about creating fair, honest reviews; after all, without your reputation, you are nothing. If a company wants to focus particular attention on a product, it will pay for sponsored content and that content is clearly marked as such under the FTC rules, and even then, We advocate honesty and accuracy in content. Of course it’s important to note that yes, there are people out there who might try to follow ethics and rules when it comes to this sort of thing, but I can also tell you that most ads you You’ll find in the space people who are honest, (extremely) hard-working and take great pride in their products and honesty.
