Slate mines: Hidden world’s beauty revealed by explorer
The hidden world of forgotten slate mines in north Wales has been revealed by a photographer who has spent 5 years exploring them.
Gareth Owen, 32, has been documenting the large caverns and clusters of completely preserved boots, lanterns and instruments throughout subterranean journeys with different highly-trained cavers.
The pictures and movies he captures give a peak right into a world frozen in historical past, deep underground – and infrequently solely accessible by tiny, harmful passageways.
“As quickly as you go in by way of that adit, you might actually be again within the 1800s,” he stated. “It is like going again in time.”
