Sime Darby racing team competes for the 2023 Porsche Carrera Asia Cup with Malaysian driver Nazim Azman


Porsche Malaysia launched Sime Darby Racing Team will make their race debut at the start of the 2023 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia (PCCA) singles series in partnership with Earl Bamber Motorsport (EBM), who will participate in a single entry race car with Malaysian and former Formula 3 driver Nazim Azman.

The team will compete in the PCCA Pro category for professional riders and will present a batik-inspiration racing livery on 992 generation Porsche 911 GT3 trophy racing car, made by other competitors in the one-off production series.

“It is exciting to see the Malaysian team represented by Porsche Malaysia take part in the race this season. We are delighted to have Nazim Azman join the PCCA Talent Group development program and we look forward to him training with Porsche racing champions as he begins his racing journey,” said Director. The 2023 season marks the return of a full racing schedule for the PCCA series, starting with Rounds 1 and 2 in Malaysia at Sepang International Circuit from 28 to 30 April 2023, followed by the series ri will travel to Korea, Japan, Thailand, and Singapore before concluding in Shanghai, China, where Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific is headquartered.

Earl Bamber Motorsport (EBM) is named after its founder, Earl Bamber, a two-time PCCA champion, a professional Porsche racer as well as a two-time winner of 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race. EBM will provide technical support to Team Sime Darby throughout the 2023 PCCA season.

Porsche Malaysia is at the forefront of customer tracking and driving programs and we’ve had a long history with Earl Bamber Motorsport on the track. We are confident of our performance in the upcoming season alongside our strong partners, Earl Bamber Motorsport and Nazim,” said Sime Darby Auto Performance CEO Christopher Hunter.

“As this is my first time racing a GT car all season, I believe this opportunity will broaden my horizons and experience in GT racing. I would like to thank the whole team for the support and will try my best to continue in the next race,” said Nazim.

Launched in December 2020, the 992 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup is equipped with a dry aspirated 6-cylinder boxer engine, producing 510 horsepower at 8,400 rpm and 470 Nm of torque at 6,150 rpm. with a 6-speed manual transmission single-clutch sequential gearbox and mechanical limited-slip differential.

The 2023 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia season will begin this month, with Rounds 1 and 2 to be held at Sepang International Circuit from April 28 to 30, 2023. A total of seven race weekend was completed. scheduled and will conclude with Rounds 13 and 14 at Shanghai International Circuit on October 27-29, 2023.
