Shiba Inu Famous For Meme ‘Doge’ Has Liver Disease And Leukemia


Kabosu, Shiba Inu, who inspired the Doge meme and designed the Dogecoin cryptocurrency, has been diagnosed with cancer and liver disease. Kabosu’s mother, Atsuko Sato, shared the news of the diagnosis on social media after the famous dog recently suffered serious health effects.

And although Kabosu’s condition was difficult for a few days, antibiotics and good care helped the cute Shiba to recover in time for the New Year.

Looking at a photo of Kabosu, you are sure to recognize her from the hugely popular Doge memes that started after her mother shared the photo, which has now gone viral worldwide on social media, in 2010. By 2013, Kabosu’s iconic face had become very popular. She is known to have inspired Dogecoin cryptocurrency. And because Kabosu has stolen the hearts of so many, sassy Shiba has received immense love and support to help her overcome her dreaded illness.

Not feeling good

On Christmas Day, Atsuko put on social network, wrote that the seventeen-year-old dog star was feeling unwell and refused food and water. She vomited and couldn’t get up to go out without help. Worried about her best friend, Atsuko takes Kabosu to the hospital, where her condition has worsened.

“Kabosu’s disease name is acute biliary cholangitis and chronic lymphocytic leukemia,” Atsuko disclosure. “Currently the liver level is very bad and there is jaundice.

Simply put, biliary hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver, bile ducts, and gallbladder. It usually responds well to antibiotic treatment. As for her leukemia diagnosis, Kabosu can still live many years with this blood cancer and even enjoy good health and good times.

On The Mend

Even though she is very sick, Kabosu will not be counted, and Atsuko knows it too, sharing, “This is not the end. I’m sure she’ll show us another miracle that gives people hope.”

And indeed, she did.

Thanks to antibiotics and diligent care from his family and three kitten siblings, Kabosu soon regained his appetite and went to the bathroom on his own. Every day since seeing the vet, she has regained her strength and active personality.
