Police say a shark killed an American woman scuba diving in the Bahamas.
The 58-year-old Pennsylvania man was attacked near Green Cay after booking an excursion with his family on New Providence Island.
A police spokesman said the woman’s family members saw a bull shark attack her, in an area just a few feet away. A 21-year-old American woman was killed in a shark attack in 2019.
The family took a seven-night cruise on Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas, departing Florida on Sunday.
The woman suffered upper body injuries and was pulled out of the water by family members and tour company workers, police said.
She was taken to a hospital in New Providence, where she was pronounced dead on Tuesday, police added.
Cruise operator Royal Caribbean International said the passenger who died had booked an independent cruise in Nassau, and it was supporting her family.

In 2021, there were 73 confirmed unprovoked attacks globally, of which nine were fatal.
According to experts, this is higher than the global annual average of five deaths.
Overall, at least 32 shark attacks have been reported in the Bahamas since 1749.
Michael Heithaus, a marine biologist, said the number of attacks in the Bahamas could be related to the high number of people in the water in that area and its robust marine ecosystem.
He said the Bahamas has many species of sharks, most of which do not pay attention to humans, except for bull sharks and tiger sharks.
Heithaus said: “They are very large and eat large prey, before adding that sharks have incredible sensory systems and can be attracted to food, sounds and smells in the water. .
