President Biden has nominated Shalanda Young as director of the White House Office of Management and Budget, and Nani Coloretti as deputy director, the White House said.

Young is currently the deputy director of OMB. She has taken on the role of acting director for the past 8 months after being first picked by Biden for that job, Neera Tanden, withdrew because of some senators said they would not support her nomination. Young, a former top aide to the House Appropriations Committee, will become the first Black woman to hold the position of OMB director, if confirmed by the Senate.

Coloretti, a Filipina-American, is senior vice president of finance and business strategy at the Urban Institute. She served as deputy secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development during the Obama administration.

“Shalanda Young and Nani Coloretti are two of the most experienced, qualified to lead the OMB. Each has been previously confirmed by the United States Senate with strong bipartisan support,” Biden said. know on Wednesday. “I urge the Senate to quickly reconfirm them so they can lead the OMB at this critical time.”
