Secretlab TITAN Evo 2022 review: The best gaming chair upgrade

Confession: Since the beginning of the pandemic, I have sat across four different chairs in my home office. While each iteration promises a remote worker’s dream of “ergonomic comfort” and “excellent lumbar support,” none of them are right for the Goldilocks of a spine of mine.

Gaming chairs are best known for their high backs, striped cushions, and race seat-like silhouettes. But instead of focusing on looks, Secretlab has paved the way for a new line of gaming chairs that prioritize high-quality construction and longevity.

The TITAN Evo looks more like a premium car seat than a gaming chair. My device is in Stealth finish, covered with glossy, black leatherette, red accent stitching, yellow brand logo and carbon fiber pieces (it may not be the real thing, but it sure looks and feels great). Secretlab claims that the faux leather material, called NEO Hybrid Leatherette, is 12 times more durable than the PU leather found on competing seats. From my usage, I have yet to notice any wear and tear – but it could be a different story for pet owners and those with kids around.

Aside from durability, another concern I have for the gapless, leather-like material is how well it will handle when sitting for long periods of time. There’s nothing worse than finding your lower back drenched in sweat after a day’s work. While that didn’t happen during the four months I’ve been using it, I did notice the legs feel warmer than expected, especially when Secretlab introduced the cold-curing foam application.

What also differentiates the TITAN Evo from its predecessors is the use of magnets. From bolting to the CloudSwap armrest, the chair’s metal platform not only makes assembly easy, but also eliminates the need for extra screws, straps, and other traditional means of holding components. intact. I especially like the magnetic head pillow, which is padded with active foam and impregnated with cooling gel for those hot gaming sessions. The pillow clung to me just enough for me to rest on my neck and still not fall off the most abrupt movements.

It’s good to see that the company isn’t taking a “one size fits all” approach to gaming chair and willing to include more of its services. For my 6-meter tall build, I haven’t had any problems fitting the full-size chair.

I spend at least eight hours a day sitting and since using the TITAN Evo, I find my typical mid-day low back and neck pains are less frequent than in previous chairs. That might be definitive enough to tell you exactly how comfortable this chair is.

The biggest contributor to my improvement in posture and health is the number of adjustable parts on the chair. The TITAN Evo can recline up to 165 degrees, shift gears up and down, and has an armrest that can be moved up, down, left, right, forward, backward and even turned. All in all, I’d say the TITAN Evo’s comfort beats most gaming and office chairs. From the adjustment of a wide range of quality materials to the absence of vibrations when moving the chair, the sitting experience in general is very enjoyable.
