Sebastian Fundora Overwhelmed by Erickson Lubin Win: “He Really Brings His Hammer But I Decided To Bring My Drill”

Sebastian Fundora is frequently the subject of criticism. Standing at close to 6’6″, the 24-year-old beats most heavyweights, let alone the lower middleweights, in the weight class he currently competes in.

While Fundora can use his monstrously high frames to keep opponents at bay, he rarely does. Instead, the Florida man often crouched down, buried his head in his opponent’s chest, and engaged in a gunfight.

While his compelling game plan has led to a spotless record across 19 career games, many believe his stand and bang approach will suit Erickson Lubin’s hands. The two waged an all-out fight last night at the Virgin Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Known by the nickname “The Hammer”, Lubin did his best to attack from the outside before launching malicious shots upstairs. However, even as Lubin took down Fundora for the first time in his career, the newly crowned WBC interim crowned man stripped off the deck in the seventh round to score an injury-time victory in the ninth round of the night.

Usually after a severe victory, Fundora takes time to pat herself in for a job well done.

Fundora said: “I think this is probably my best performance ever. “It was a back-and-forth fight. He actually brought his hammer but I decided to bring my drill.”

When the opening bell rang, Lubin appeared confident as he stood in his nampaw pose. He connects on some smooth jabs that capture Fundora’s head. In addition to the attack upstairs, Lubin also attacked the body. Yet despite Lubin’s success and despite Fundora getting a taste of the scene for the first time in his career, the 154-pound high-ranked contender got Lubin exactly where he wanted to be.

After a slow start in the first round, Fundora connected with a top lane fairly early in the second round. As a result, the force of the blow caused Lubin to fall.

With Fundora dropping his money punch, the giant candidate knows it’s only a matter of time until he gets Lubin out of there.

“The top lane landed like no other. The upper cut is my lucky punch. I’m here in Vegas, so I feel a bit lucky, and that’s my lucky punch. It lands most of the time with people. Southpaw. Right hand. It’s not important. Once I found that, I felt like the job was done. ”
