With a 16-0 undefeated record, the 25-year-old Brooklyn native now has what it takes to move on to big things. In fact, he was supposed to be fighting for the WBA lightweight title tonight at Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, but his opponent, Roger Gutierrez, took down Covid. So, widely unknown – but undefeated – Dominican Republic native, Hector Luis Garcia, 14-0, stepped in and seized the opportunity of a lifetime, thus making tonight’s 12-round lightweight game the title remover.

IBF super flyweight champion Jerwin Ancajas, 33-1-2, will also get a card, defending his belt against Fernando Martinez, undefeated 13-0 in the expected 12th round.
