AUGUST, Ga. – 18 holes left at the Masters 2022, and it looks like the competition for the blue jacket will be two-man race between Scottie Scheffler and Cameron Smith. No. 1 golfer in the world, Scheffler has a three-stroke advantage over Smith as Augusta National prepares to be crowned Masters champion for the first time.
Round 4 will take place on Sunday morning with only seven golfers under his command attending the tournament. No one but Smith was better than 1 under on Saturday as cold temperatures and swirling winds surrounded Augusta National. It will be warmer and mellower on Sunday, giving a chance for anything to happen before that green coat is handed out in the early evening.
Anticipation has reached a fever in advance masters when Tiger Woods decided to play competitive golf for the first time in 17 months. At first, he made the most of that decision, post 1 under 71 with a few birdies and some side saves in a classic Tiger-like performance one might hope to see as he’s been under a lengthy layoff. In fact, it’s quite a remarkable achievement given the obstacles Woods has faced over the past year or so. However, Woods faltered in Round 2 and exploded in Round 3 with a score of 6 of 78, the worst round of his career at Augusta National.
