Santa Anita reveals the schedule for the fall of 2022


Santa Anita . ParkThe 18-day Fall Meetup, which opens on Friday, September 30, will be marked by a total of 26 stakes, 15 of which are classified. Overnight wallets are still the same as last year. Almost all staking wallets are the same as in 2021, with the following exceptions. Both Golden State Juvenile and Golden State Juvenile Fillies have their purses increased from $150,000 to $175,000, while Unzip Me and Anoakia now have purses of $85,000 – up from $75,000 last year. Additionally, two restricted stakes, Swingtime and Lure, currently offer a wallet amount of $80,000, up $10,000 each.

The Fall 2022 meet-up deposit schedule will include 5 slots to the Breeders’ Cup “Win & You’re In” during the first two weekends, October 1 & 2 and May 8 & 9. 10, all of which are important prerequisites for the Breeders’ Cup World Championship in Keeneland November 4 and 5, including three tier 1 events, $300,000 Awesome Again (G1) on October 1, $300,000 American Pharoah (G1) and $300,000 Rodeo Drive (G1T), both takes place on October 8.

With the Breeders’ Cup in mind, the Fall Meetup is off to a quick start, with 11 stakes, seven of which are graded, made available on the opening weekend, October 1 and 2, the end of the week. The second week, October 8 and 9, will offer six shares, five of them graded.

The Awesome Again Stakes (G1) in preparation for the $6 million Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1), American Pharoah (G1) in preparation for the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) la, and Rodeo Drive Stakes, a preparation for Maker’s Mark Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf (G1T) worth $2 million.

With Awesome Again (G1) as headline for a great day of staking action on October 1, five additional stakes will be on offer: $200,000 Eddie D. Stakes (G2T) for kids 3 and up up for about six-and-a-half extending down the hillside lawn; $200,000 John Henry Stakes (G2T) for kids 3 and up at 1 1/4 mile on grass; $200,000 Santa Anita sprint championship (G2) at six tracks; $200,000 City of Hope Mile Stakes (G2T) for kids 3 and up and $85,000 for Unzip Me Stakes for 3-year-olds for about 6 and a half extending down the hillside lawn.

On Sunday, October 2, a total of five stakes will be offered, $200,000 Zenyatta Stakes (G2) for fillets and mares at 1 1/16 miles; $100,000 Chillingworth Stakes (G3) for fillings and mares 3 years of age and older for 6 1/2 furlongs; $100,000 Speakeasy Stakes for 2-year-olds at 5 pitches, Tokyo City Cup $100,000 for 3-year-olds and over at 1-and-a-half miles (permanently moved to Fall Meetup in preparation for Breeders ‘Cup Marathon Races), and congressman Ken Maddy worth $100,000, for ponies and mares 3 years and older at about six-and-a-half extending down the hillside turf.

A total of four Stocks were bred by California, California Distaff ($125,000) as of October 15; California Flag ($125,000) on October 16; Golden State Juvenile ($175,000) on October 29 and Golden State Juvenile Fillies ($175,000) on October 29, will once again offer local owners and ranchers the opportunity to earn more passed the closing date, November 6.
