Samsung hires more than 1,000 engineers from IIT in AI, ML, IoT space

Consumer electronics brand, Samsung, is planning to hire around 1,000 engineers for its research institutes across India. These institutes include Samsung R and D Institute Bangalore, Samsung R and D Institute Noida, Samsung R and D Institute Delhi and Samsung Semiconductor India Research in Bengaluru.

According to the company statement, these young engineers will join in 2023 and will work on new age technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), deep learning, image processing imaging, Internet of Things (IoT), connectivity, cloud, big data, business intelligence, predictive analytics, communications networks, systems on chip (SoC) and storage solutions.

Samsung will recruit engineers from various fields such as computer science and related disciplines (AI/ML/computer vision/very large-scale integration, etc.), information technology, electronics, equipment instrumentation, embedded systems and communication networks. In addition, it will also recruit from fields such as mathematics and computing and software engineering.

This recruitment season, the electronics giant said that Samsung RD centers will hire around 200 engineers from leading IITs such as IIT-Madras, IIT-Delhi, IIT-Hyderabad, IIT-Bombay, IIT-Roorkee, IIT -Kharagpur, IIT-Kanpur, IIT-Guwahati and IIT-BHU, among others. They have also provided over 400 advance placement offers (PPOs) to students at IITs and other top institutions.

According to the company, Samsung’s research centers in India have filed more than 7,500 patents in areas such as multi-camera solutions, TVs, digital applications, fifth-generation (5G) mobile systems. , 6G and ultra-wideband wireless communication protocol. Many of these patents have been commercialized in Samsung’s flagship Galaxy smartphones, smartwatches, networking devices and digital apps, among others.

Over the years, Samsung’s RD centers in India have built a strong patent filing culture. For example, at Samsung RD Institute, Bangalore, a significant number of patent registrants are first-time inventors in emerging fields such as 5G, AI, ML, IoT, camera technology and vision, the company said, adding to this, the RD center has emerged as the number one patent applicant in India for inventions made in India and for the first time first filed in India, and also won the National IP Awards in 2021 and 2022.
