“You will see a spanking,” Ryan Garcia said Golden boy boxing before joint practice on Tuesday. Of course, Garcia is referring to his upcoming April 20 bout with lightweight king Devin Haney at Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn. “For me this will be light work,” Garcia continued, “another day at the office.” Devin Haney? Light work? Another day at the office? “He’s not at my level,” Garcia said. “He will never reach my level.” Although most fans and analysts may not agree, the popular Garcia sounded confident when he uttered those words on Tuesday.

Garcia attracted a lot of attention to herself while headlining the pay-per-view event this month, but not all of it was positive. Behaving in a serious manner at times and rather vulgarly towards others, Garcia now makes people literally question his sanity. “It’s their job to explain to other people,” he said. “I don’t regret anything I said or did and now I’m ready to kick some ass on April 20th.lame pants.” He will have to be ready if he plans to defeat the masterful Haney, who is considered by many to be one of the most talented and skilled active fighters today.

While arguing that he is ready to fight, Garcia – like other famous fighters – admits that preparation can be hard work. “Some days I don’t feel like working out, other days I do,” he said. “It gets pretty repetitive at the end of the day.” However, Garcia argues that fans should be ready for a good time in Brooklyn as he takes on the formidable Haney. “This is going to be a great time,” he promised. “Make sure you guys create cool spells…I want you to scare Haney with your roars.” Garcia then said that he would be ready to party after the fight was over. “We’ll light a cigarette right after,” he said. “Four twenty, honey. We can do that in the ring.”

When asked to speak directly to Haney, Garcia looked straight into the camera. “I bet you were hoping that I would back down (from the fight),” he said. “I will knock you out in front of the whole world.” Anyone who has seen Garcia fight knows the young Californian has the power to tear down a wall. He also has the speed to find the sweet spot for his shots. Will that be enough against people like Haney? That question alone could be the main attraction of this month’s showdown at Barclay’s.
