Roundup: New Health Information Exchange Appears, Expands



Many governments, territories and healthcare organizations are establishing health information exchanges to enable faster and more seamless sharing of health data between physician offices, hospitals, centers federally qualified healthcare, government agencies, public health clinics, laboratories, and community-based organizations.

USVI to test government data connection with service delivery

Oracle Health partners with TransForm SSO of Ontario

Last month, Oracle Health and TransForm Sharing Services Foundation, a group of 21 hospitals and facilities based in Ontario, announced the launch of the Ontario eHub HIE to make it easy for organizations to share patient data and safer.

The initial rollout was to integrate 16 long-term care facilities with five hospitals to support patients transitioning from acute to LTC. According to Oracle’s announcement, caregivers at these facilities have a clear view of each patient’s health history, care plan, medications, etc., from any connected device or system existing electronic health record system.

Greater New Orleans HIE rebranded as PelEX

On June 20, the Greater New Orleans Health Information Exchange announced that it would change its name and brand to PelEX.

HIE has served Louisiana’s Medicaid population, Federally Qualified Medical Centers in the New Orleans area, and public health clinics for 10 years and has expanded into other areas of Louisiana, including Baton Rouge, Lafayette and Opelousas, PelEX said.

The organization said the rebranding, which features a new logo with the state of Louisiana and the state’s bird, the pelican, symbolizes “a new approach to coordinated care from a statewide lens.”
