Rivian has set up what it calls Yosemite Outpost Station for EV Charging Not only does it serve as a logistical stop for explorers entering or exiting the national park, it also serves as an educational site about electric vehicles.
The site is a new life for a building and site that was once a blacksmith shop, then a repair shop, and finally a gas station, last known as Vern’s Groveland Gas, which closed years ago. Now Rivian has converted it into an EV charging hub—in one of our most visited national parks.
Rivian said the site, which is not yet open, will offer EV charging education as well as amenities. And it will become a recycling collection point.

And with the contribution from US Solar, the site will achieve net zero emissions, meaning it generates as much electricity as it consumes, according to Rivian — a feat for any charging station.
Rivian announced earlier this year that its in-car route planner would Plan routes around reliability levels of DC fast chargers, favoring those with a track record of reliably charging their vehicles. The company’s Adventure Network charger claims an uptime of more than 98 percent.
Rivian has begun Pay for Adventure Network chargers last year and intend to open to other electric vehicles soon adapt to CCS charging ports. It has also been confirmed that they will adopt Tesla-based NACS charging ports in future electric vehicles including Rivian R2 for $45,000.
