I love getting facials. In my opinion, there really isn’t a better self-care option out there. Facials not only give me built-in time to not stare at a screen and try to relax, but it also provides a ton of skin benefits that make the treatment really worth it. My facials are usually more affordable (I have bills to pay!), but when I get an invitation to try “best facials in NYC,” go. With the hefty price tag of $1000, I was immediately hooked. .

Founded by Joie Tavernise, a skin specialist and medical esthetician based in NYC, JTAV’s signature facials are perfectly tailored to each person’s individual needs. Unlike many facial treatments, JTAV facials combine clinical equipment with tried and true facial techniques, giving them a unique experience.
That being said, there are some things you can generally expect from a JTAV face. Normally, Tavernise will deep clean, exfoliate the skin with Hydrafacial, Dermaplane, extract clogged pores and use LED lights. Depending on your needs, Tavernise will also use Laser Genesis therapy for tone and texture, Clear + Brilliant for problems with tone and higher pore size, or intense pulsed light to increased pigmentation.
The experience itself is like a combination of a relaxing facial and a dermatologist appointment. Tavernise seems to know more about my skin than I do (and even spotted some places I might have picked too much). Each step was methodical and result-oriented, and I felt I could ask questions as she went along to better understand the process.
My skin is usually pretty clear and a bit dry, but lately, I’ve been getting more breakouts than usual due to stress and hormones. I let Tavernise know this and she made sure to adjust my face accordingly, targeting problem areas while making sure my skin remained hydrated.
