The College of British Columbia has cancelled a chat on its campus that will have featured a speaker whose latest movie refers to media protection of the invention of unmarked graves at residential faculties in B.C. and elsewhere as a “hoax.”
In a quick assertion saying the cancellation Friday, the college didn’t describe the subject of the occasion or the audio system who had been scheduled to take part, referring solely to the group that had organized it.
“This week, senior college workers had been made conscious of a Nov. 17 speak on campus that was booked by the UBC College students for Freedom of Expression,” stated Peter Smailes, vice-president of finance and operations for UBC, within the assertion.
“To be clear, this was not an occasion sponsored by anybody on the College of British Columbia. The host of the occasion is an exterior group that’s not endorsed by UBC.”
Smailes stated the college had reviewed the occasion and decided that it mustn’t proceed.
