Red Sox lefty Chris Sale returns to injury list with shoulder pain
Boston Red Sox left-handed Sell Chris was back on the injured list with a sore shoulder, the team announced Friday.
Corey Kluberback from maternity leave, has replaced Sale’s place on the active list.
The seven-time All-Star, who hasn’t had an injury-free season since 2017, left Thursday night’s game against Cincinnati in the fourth inning after two visits by medical staff. The team was awaiting the results of the magnetic resonance imaging on Friday morning, when Cora said Sale reported aches and pains.
Sale told reporters on Friday that He doesn’t have a definite diagnosis about the causes of neck pain.
“I hate feeling like this. I started having fun playing baseball again,” sell he said. “Now I’m back to being unhappy, and that sucks.”
Sale, 34, has been to IL for the last five seasons, missing all of 2020 while recovering from Tommy John surgery.
