Update: Friday 20 May 2022 11:15 BST: Guys, it’s true: Ugly Sonic makes a pretty substantial cameo in the new Disney+ movie, Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers.
You can see the screenshot below, but let’s first look at what’s actually happening in the scene (SPOILERSwe guess so?).
It takes place fairly early in the movie with Dale, after undergoing “CGI Surgery” (urgh), setting up a conference booth alongside a number of other ‘face-washed’ animated celebrities, hopefully again step into the spotlight.
Of course, one of these celebrities was Ugly Sonic, who optimistically declared that the crowd would “like me for who I am,” before signing autographs for a few snickering teenagers. Ugly Sonic noticed that fans were laughing at him, exclaiming “oh, they’re laughing at me, I know it. You can’t hurt my feelings if I’m joking!”
He then told Dale that he was in line to star in a new show, in which he joined the FBI, titled “Ugly Sonic, Uglier Crimes.” Dale then continued to stare at Ugly Sonic’s ‘human’ teeth, the camera panning uncomfortably close to his mouth. And that’s about it! It’s an interesting nod to the stripped-down Sonic’s design, and we’d like to think Ugly Sonic was sitting comfortably in the back of the FBI’s car as we talked, munching on a bag of Doritos.

Original Sonic the Hedgehog the movie caused a stir for all the wrong reasons when it was initially revealed. Fans were quick to call out this unsettling looking blue matte version. Luckily, Paramount redesigned him and the “ugly” design glitched.
While we weren’t expecting to see this version again, for unknown reasons, it was discovered that the new Chip n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers movie on Disney+ has revived this special version of Sonic. with human-like chompers. In one Empire RatingUgly Sonic is revealed to be one of the funniest highlights of the entire movie:
“But the funniest moments feature someone who’s never been on screen. Yes, brace yourself for ‘Ugly Sonic’, proof that a porcupine with a human tooth isn’t always a human being. a bad idea.”
