Ram Robot charger, cell-to-chassis technology, EV like virtual power plant: Car News Today


GM and Ford consider using electric vehicles as virtual power plants. Cell-to-chassis technology is about to be made in EVs from China, and we see how the inductive charging robot Ram teased could work in the real world. This and more, at Green Car Reports.

The Ram EV . induction charging robot introduced last week at CES with the introduction of the electric truck concept that actually went into production—and we took a closer look at how the unit works and how it can help people making it easier for owners with multiple electric vehicles in the garage.

GM and Ford are among the companies that have signed on to a pilot project to use large EV group to help smooth the grid like virtual power plants, reducing the need to use so-called “peak” power plants that often dramatically increase pollution problems.

And Chinese startup Neta Auto announced an agreement with battery supplier CATL that could lead to a world’s first to use cell-to-chassis technology in an EV—something Tesla introduced on Battery Day but has yet to deliver.
