Racing at Horseshoe Indianapolis Kicks Off April 19


A total of 10 races will begin the 20th season of the Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse races on Tuesday, April 19 at Horseshoe Indianapolis, formerly Indiana Grand. The card, which begins at 2:30 p.m., features nine Thoroughbred races that end with a Quarter Horse race.

The racing program introduced with a $38,000 grant is expected to be the sixth race on the card. A full field of 12 will enter the gates for a five-stage race with the Flying Samurai and top jockey of 2021 Marcelino Pedroza Jr leading the race as the early morning favorites. Five-year-old First Samurai gelding makes his 2022 debut from column 10 with a 3-1 margin from stable team Robert Dobbs Jr.

One of the new faces is the recognizable voice of Race Broadcaster John G.
