Quick Score: Stack these three deals to maximize your next Lyft ride


How often do you land at the airport and check fares to get to your destination on both Lyft and Uber? If you’re like me, you check both and book on which platform is cheaper. While that system may work well, your potential rewards earnings on the two platforms are not the same.

Honestly, the little money you can make on Uber doesn’t match the triples on Lyft. You can earn extra credit card points, miles or hotel points, and even cash back on Lyft rides. You just need to know where to look.

What is this magical Lyft trio and how do you start making the most of your Lyft rides? Let’s take a closer look.

Chase the ultimate reward: 10 points – 20 cents back for every dollar

Chase recently expanded its partnership with Lyfttherefore Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholders will continue to earn 10 points per dollar on all Lyft rides through March 2025. TPG value Each Chase Ultimate Rewards point is at 2 cents so for 10 points per dollar you’ll get 20% back on your Lyft rides in Ultimate Rewards points using the Chase Sapphire card Reserve.

Sapphire Reserve cardholders enjoy more Lyft benefits with Free Lyft Pink All Access membership for two years, up to $199 annually. This includes various benefits like discounted rides, free bike and scooter rentals, and priority pickup upgrades. Activate by December 31, 2024.

If you don’t have a Chase Sapphire Reserve card, you can earn 5 points per dollar on Lyft rides (or 10% interest based on TPG’s valuation) or 5% cashback using any of the following cards:

To earn these increased Chase rewards rates, simply add your Chase card to the “payments” section of the Lyft app.

Dosh: 10% back on Lyft rides – 10 cents back for every dollar

By linking your desired card to the Dosh app, you will start earning cashback for using your card at participating merchants. The amount you will earn depends on the merchant you are shopping with and you can withdraw your rewards through PayPal or Venmo when you have at least $25 in your account. Cashbacks are earned in addition to your credit card rewards.

In the case of Lyft, Dosh will reward you with 10% back when you use a card connected to Dosh in the Lyft app. There is a daily maximum of $2 from Dosh.

Alaska Airlines: 1 or 2 Mileage Plan miles per dollar — 1.8 or 3.6 cents per dollar return

Alaska Airlines recently partnered with Lyft, gives Mileage Plan members another way to earn miles. For 2022, you can earn 2 miles for every dollar spent on Lyft rides. After January 1, 2023, you’ll earn 1 mile for every dollar spent on Lyft. Remember that you can only earn on the base fare of your Lyft ride.

If you want to earn Hilton Honors or Delta SkyMiles points, you can choose respectively in the Lyft app. Unfortunately, you can only earn rewards with one of these partners at a time.

Here is a breakdown of what you will earn from each rewards partner:

Hilton Honors, up to $10,000 per year:

  • 3 Hilton Honors points for every dollar spent on private Lyft rides in the US (1.8% profit).
  • 2 Hilton Honors points for every dollar spent on shared Lyft rides in the US (1.2% return rate).

SkyMiles Delta:

  • 2 Delta SkyMiles for every dollar spent on Lyft flights at US airports (2.82 percent profit).
  • 1 Delta SkyMile for every dollar spent on non-airport Lyft trips in the US (1.41 percent profit).

Alaska Mileage Plan:

  • 2 miles Alaska Mileage Plan for every dollar spent on all Lyft rides in 2022 in the US and Canada (3.6% profit).
  • 1 Alaska Mileage Plan for every dollar spent on all Lyft rides after 2022 in the US and Canada (1.8% ROI).

As 2023 begins, if your goal is to earn as many points as possible at the highest rate, you should credit your airport trips to Delta SkyMiles and your private out-of-airport trips. you into the Hilton Honors or the Alaska Mileage Plan. However, you need to manually transfer your rewards partner before each trip.
