How to access one of TPG’s favorite Caribbean hotels using points and miles

St. Kitts is one of the region’s hottest destinations for travelers to earn points, thanks to some great redemption options. As one Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholder, you can redeem your Ultimate Rewards points at a rate of 1.5 cents per person for travel booked directly through Chase Ultimate Rewards Gate. Since return flights from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport (SKB) on St. Kitts tend to cost around $600 per person, so that would require 90,000 Ultimate Rewards points, which is a bit high for a ride. Instead, an easy way is to book a cheap flight to Miami International Airport (MIA) with cash.

When in Miami, connect on one American Airlines flight to St. Kitts. You cannot transfer Chase the score arrive American ALAdvantage. Instead, transfer your Ultimate Rewards points to Airline British and book partner awards on American Airlines. When there is an economic prize space, British Airways only charges 22,000 Avios and about $70 in taxes and round-trip fees. You have saved 68,000 points.

But what really inspired the trip was the attractive prize redemption rate at Park Hyatt St. Kitts Port Christophe, especially since cash rates at this resort are usually north of $1,000 a night.

For Class 7 properties, Hyatt’s World charge 25,000, 30,000, or 35,000 points per night for low, standard, and peak nights, respectively. A four-night stay will hit 140,000 points. If you book the same room with cash, it will cost $4,671.72. That’s a pretty big savings, and it’s worth about 3.3 cents per World of Hyatt point, which is significantly more Current valuation of TPG of both Hyatt and Chase points.

Furthermore, World of Hyatt also Free resort ($50 per night at this hotel) using points, so you save even more money by booking your stay as a reward.
