Queen Elizabeth’s Corgis is heartbroken after her death

According to Dr Roger Mugford, an animal psychologist who worked with Queen Elizabeth’s dogs, the remaining canines were all aware of the Queen’s death. Queen Elizabeth II stopped breeding Corgis many years ago because she didn’t want them to outlive her. But as time passed, she realized she needed fluffy friends by her side. So when she had only one dog left, her son Andrew gave her two more Corgis.

When the Queen passed away, she had four dogs, who now miss her dearly. Dr. Mugford explains how dogs cope after this tragic loss, and fortunately, they are all in good hands.

Corgis reacts to the Queen’s death

At the time of her death, Queen Elizabeth had two Corgis named Sandy and Muick, a Dorgi (Dachshund/Corgi mix) named Candy, and a Cocker Spaniel named Lissy. 4-year-old Lissy is the latest addition after the queen brought her home in early 2022. Mugford only spoke of the reactions of two Corgis, but all four may remember their humans more than anyone. what.

“I’m sure the dogs knew that events were happening as the queen’s health deteriorated,” said Mugford. “Dogs are very aware of changes in their owners and the general health of people.”

Mugford added that he doesn’t believe there will be too many serious changes in the dogs’ behavior due to grief. They’re used to having multiple helpers take care of them, so even though they’re heartbroken, their routine won’t change dramatically.

Queen Elizabeth’s dogs were there to support her until the very end. Sandy and Muick were even present outside the Queen’s coffin during the final procession. They may not know exactly what is going on, but they know something sad has happened.

Mugford said: ‘There’s no doubt the queen loves her dogs. “[She had] a nice affection for her dogs. They are her great entertainment targets. She talks to them in the silly ways we all tell our dogs. It was the brighter side of her life. When I’m with her, she’s incredibly vivacious when it comes to her dogs, their individual personalities.”

Who will take care of Corgis now?

Prince Andrew and his daughter, Princess Beatrice, will take care of Muick, Sandy and Candy. The three dogs are used to each other’s company by now, so the Queen doesn’t want them to part ways. The media has yet to announce who will take care of Lissy.

“I visited Windsor Park, Prince Andrew’s home, to see his dogs, two little Terriers, and it was a great environment for the dogs. So these dogs will be pampered,” said Mugford. “Most of their time or most of their lives have been spent with Windsor and Prince Andrew’s house is located about two miles from the castle, so for them it’s going to be a big house if you will.”

Of course, Queen Elizabeth’s dogs will miss her dearly, but they will still be surrounded by people who love them. Dogs can be a big undertaking, but Prince Andrew promised to look after the puppies for the many years they’ve left.
