Recently retired broodmares will compete alongside traditional Makeover participants in all ten areas on offer, but will be pinned and recognized separately, competing for a $10,000 prize la separate.
The implementation of the new broodstock was made possible with the support of the ASPCA. More support from farms and livestock groups in the area is expected.
RRP chief executive Kirsten Green said: “As thoroughbred molting has made a proven impact on the horse population retiring from racing, we have received a growing call in recent years for a channel for thoroughbred stallions who are getting ready for their third career”. “Although the needs of this group are slightly different from the original Makeover eligibility, the main condition remains the same: horses that receive quality training and care are more likely to find them. more permanent homes. To be eligible for the pilot broodstock division, horses must meet the following criteria:
- Registered Jockey Club
- As reported by The Jockey Club, mated or bred in the 2021 breeding season or later.
- Have a Lifetime Start or Published Work
- Since the history of each pothole can vary significantly, potholes will not be limited to 15 trips
- Broodmares may not have had a performance or competition before
The training period for all 2023 Thoroughbred Moths will begin on December 1. Training applications will be open for drafting on December 15 and will be open for submission from January 2. through January 20, 2023. Accepted trainers will be notified on or before February 15, and trainers can register horses at the time of application through July 31.
