Purebred molting to add Broodmare parts in 2023


Recognizing the growing need to support the underserved population of the thoroughbred industry, the Retired Race Horse Project (RRP) announced today that the National Symposium and Purebred Molting The 2023 race, presented by the Mastery Charity of America, will include a pilot program for a competitive division. . Recently retired broodmares will compete alongside traditional Makeover participants in all ten areas on offer, but will be pinned and recognized separately, competing for a $10,000 prize la separate.

The implementation of the new broodstock was made possible with the support of the ASPCA. More support from farms and livestock groups in the area is expected.

To be eligible for the pilot broodstock division, horses must meet the following criteria:

  • Registered Jockey Club
  • As reported by The Jockey Club, mated or bred in the 2021 breeding season or later.

  • Since the history of each pothole can vary significantly, potholes will not be limited to 15 trips
  • Broodmares may not have had a performance or competition before

The training period for all 2023 Thoroughbred Moths will begin on December 1. Training applications will be open for drafting on December 15 and will be open for submission from January 2. through January 20, 2023. Accepted trainers will be notified on or before February 15, and trainers can register horses at the time of application through July 31.
