We all love a good rag rich story and this one happens to involve puppies!
A pack of puppies was found abandoned in a dump in Saskatchewan, Canada. animal rescue, Bright Eyes Dog Rescue, was alerted to the situation after someone spotted the puppies inside the dump and contacted the animal rescue team.
Volunteers immediately rushed to the dump to start looking for the puppies. Rescuers scoured the pile – in the freezing cold – until they came across a trio of puppies huddled together.
Their mother was nowhere to be seen, so rescuers realized she was most likely a stray dog that did not return to her litter. Not wanting to leave them in the cold winter weather, rescuers quickly transported the puppies back to a warm and safe place.
After bringing the puppies home, they were all given food and a bath. It was in the shower that they made a shocking discovery. When they post on Facebook page, “We discovered a really WHITE dog after we gave them a bath for the first time.”
While the young trio were being cared for, Bright Eyes Dog Rescue Team returned several times in the days that followed to make sure they didn’t miss any other potentially abandoned puppies.
Surprisingly, they found four more people in need of rescue! But it’s not easy. Two of the puppies were in an easily accessible area. However, the other two proved to be a little more difficult to rescue.
As Megan Jane, spokesperson for the volunteer rescue, explains to CBC News, “I know some of our volunteers who were there for several hours, in the freezing cold, going through tires, trash and sticks, mud and trees.”
Megan further explains that this is probably the first time the puppies have seen a human, so they can understand the fear – especially when their mother is not around.
She adds that the seven-week-old puppies are a Pyrenees/Shepherd mix, meaning it’s likely their naturally thick coat helped keep them warm in cold weather. Lucky baby mice!
Currently, the puppies are in the care of Bright Eyes Dog Rescue, where they will be placed in a mandatory medical facility for two weeks before they can be adopted in January.
