ProMX hits Maitland this weekend
Penrite ProMX Championship 2022
Round Five – Maitland, NSW
As Maitland kicks off the second half of the Championship, a huge number of competitors, teams, support and race fans will flock to the Lower Hunter Valley for the ProMX action.
Thor MX1
The THOR MX1 Division recently got another potential move in the Championship, with CDR Yamaha Monster Energy rider Aaron Tanti making his own at the Last Round at Gillman in SA.
Tanti has finally put it all together, matching his breakneck sprint speed with endurance and tenacity over the weather challenges from all the championship contenders in THOR MX1, second Moto win at Gillmanoverall victory for the Round and ushered in a 12-point lead at the top of the THOR MX1 leaderboard with the Red Disc.
One thing is for sure, Tanti will feel at home in the familiar confines of the Maitland track and if there are any laps he can capitalize on the momentum and set the story for the rest of the Championship. enemy, it will take place right in Maitland. ! Follow Tanti from the start as Tanti blasts through his patented sprints in the AMX Superstores’ extreme 10-Point Penalty Match.
It was Todd Waters’ 2019 Champion on the Husqvarna Racing Australia machine that proved stability was key, sitting in 2nd place in the Championship and progressing to Round 5.
Behind Waters, Go24 KTM’s Brett Metcalfe will be looking to capitalize on the new confidence gained from the Moto victory and overall podium at his home city race in Gillman.
Another fascinating story from Gillman comes HRC Factory Honda Racing driver Dean Ferris, who has quietly entered the inner ring to treat the effects of a midweek training crash. That’s not the dominance we’ve seen in Wodongabut a steady day in the top 5 now leaves Ferris 23 points behind Red Plate and is certainly looking to bounce back and set the tone for the rest of the Championship at Maitland.
Kirk Gibbs’ KTM Australia also returns to form at Gillman With an overall podium, currently 5th in the Championship, Gibbs is another veteran who could enter podium fights any time in the second half of the Championship.

Pirelli MX2
In the Pirelli MX2, HRC Honda Racing Australia’s Wilson Todd entered the Round while regaining full title after a dominating performance at Gillman and is currently taking a clear 61 with Red Plate.
Had a perfect day with a 1-1 Moto score and overcame one of his closest rivals Alex Larwood on the Yamalube Yamaha Racing Team at GillmanTodd has really set the tone that it’s his championship to take control as we start the second half of the season.
The only rider to beat Todd to win the Moto 2022, Serco Yamaha’s Bailey Malkiewicz, is battling a knee injury caused by a knee injury. Gillman, it’s time for someone to step on the plate and challenge Todd’s dominance. Who will that be? Time will tell at Maitland this weekend.
