Price and specifications Hyundai Kona 2023

Got a new Hyundai Kona in Australia.

The new Kona will be more expensive than its predecessor in the lowest segment. But it does bring new technology, a new hybrid option and more interior space.

Four trim levels will be offered, two of which can be selected with three engines. The hybrid power feature first appeared on Kona locally, with an electric version also on the way.

The petrol-only Kona line will launch in the coming months; 2.0-liter models without the N Line Package or 1.6-liter turbocharged models have arrived, with the 2.0-liter N Line models due in the third quarter of 2023.

Hybrid will launch in Q4 of 2023, so will Kona Electric.

transmission system

The entry-level engine in the Kona is still a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine making 110kW of power and 180Nm of torque. It runs the Atkinson Cycle and is mated to a CVT – known in the Hyundai world as IVT – with eight virtual steps.

New for Australia is a hybrid powertrain in the Kona. It combines a 1.6-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine with an electric motor, connected to a 1.32 kWh battery pack.

The electric motor generates 32kW of power and 172Nm of torque; The combined system output is 104kW and 265Nm. It is connected to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission

The range-topping 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine produces 146kW of power and 265Nm of torque, mated to an eight-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

Effective

The claimed fuel economy in 2.0 base petrol is 6.6 liters/100km on the mixed cycle. That jumps to 7.6L/100km in 1.6 turbo, and down 3.9L/100km in the hybrid model.

size

The new Kona measures 4350mm long, 1825mm wide and 1585mm high in the base or Premium version – the N Line is 35mm longer thanks to a unique bodykit. All models have a wheelbase of 2660mm.

Trunk space on the Kona has been improved from 374L to 407L with the arrival of the larger new second-generation car here. When folding the rear seats, the space is 1241L.

Service and Warranty

Hyundai Kona will be covered by a 5-year unlimited km warranty.

Service will be required every 15,000 km or 12 months for the 2.0-litre and 1.6-litre hybrid petrol engines, and every 10,000 km or 12 months for the turbocharged petrol engines.

The final service price has not been fixed.
