DES MOINES, Iowa – The bad news is that no one won the massive $1.2 billion Powerball jackpot Wednesday night.

The good news is the even bigger prize pool comes in at $1.5 billion ahead of the next draw on Saturday night. It was the third-largest lottery prize in US history.

The numbers drawn on Wednesday night are: 2, 11, 22, 35, 60 and the red ball 23.

No one has won the top Powerball prize since August 3, making 39 consecutive spins without anyone matching all six numbers.

What’s behind three months of useless lottery? It’s a simple math. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.

It is because of those lingering odds that the grand prize has increased so much.

The new $1.5 billion prize is actually for the winners who choose to receive an annuity, paid annually for 29 years. Nearly all winners choose cash, the amount for Saturday’s draw will be $745.9 million.

Powerball is played in 45 states, as well as Washington, DC, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
