This year, Porsche will celebrate 75 years since the first 356 received its driving license by introducing the Mission X, a two-seat supercar with electric powertrain following in the footsteps of iconic models. in the past like 959, Carrera GT and Agent 918.

The Mission X may be a concept, but the German automaker is considering turning it into a mass-production car that customers will be able to buy. However, it made four strong demands if this were to happen.

First, the production Mission X has to be the fastest road-legal car on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, so it has to beat the time given by Mercedes-AMG One. The vehicle should also have a power-to-weight ratio of about one PS per kilogram and generate significantly more downforce than it currently has. 911 GT3RS.

Above all, high-performance electric vehicles (EVs) must be able to charge twice as fast as Taycan Turbo WILL. According to Porsche, this will require the use of a 900-volt system architecture, a step up from the Taycan’s 800-volt system.

The automaker hasn’t provided many technical details yet, but the Mission X is described as having an “electronic core layout” that focuses most of the mass on the car by placing the battery pack in the center behind the seats.

In addition, the Mission X is 4.5 meters long, 2 meters wide and has a wheelbase of 2.73 meters, making it a relatively compact supercar, about the same size as the Carrera GT and 918 Spyder. For aerodynamic purposes, the concept car has mixed-size tires, with 20-inch wheels at the front and 21-inch wheels at the rear.

As for the design, the Mission X’s sculptural form and muscular lines are easy on the eyes for those who shun aggressive designs. The Le Mans-style doors are reminiscent of the legendary 917 race car, and the signature Porsche four-point light graphics are modernized with inspiration from the 906 and 908 racers.

A full-width light bar at the rear with illuminated Porsche adorns the rear of the Mission X, and we were told the ‘E’ will vibrate when the car is charging. Porsche also points out that the rear wheel is equipped with an almost transparent aerodynamic wing that helps cool the brake system.

The Mission X is also the first model to feature a new Porsche badging, featuring polished precious metals, a 3D honeycomb structure, a refreshed beast emblem and a more subtle gold colour. As you’d expect from a supercar, lightweight materials like carbon fiber are used throughout the exterior, finished in Rocket Metallic paint.

Inside, the driver’s seat is upholstered in Kalahari Gray leather with Andalusian Brown upholstery, while the passenger seat is completely second colour. The racing-inspired interior also features carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) seat covers, six-point seatbelts, and an opening steering wheel with mode switches and gearshift paddles.

There are also multiple cameras to capture all the action on the go, while the passenger side has an embedded bayonet system where the infotainment is required. This can accept the chronograph module Porsche has developed with digital and metal displays to capture lap times or display important information.

Porsche didn’t say it would turn the Mission X into a production car, but famous cars in the past like the Carrera GT and Agent 918 have been on this road before – both were presented as concepts before they were finally presented as cars that people could buy.

The ultra-fast EVs that Mission X produces that will have to compete (if it goes into mass production) include Rimac Nevera, lotus flower evija, Tesla convertible, Pininfarina Battista, Aspark owl as well as rumored offerings from Ferrari, Lamborghini and Aston Martin.
