At $22,860 for most models, the process involves sending the company the desired sample (whether it’s a body panel, a piece of fabric, or something else) and waiting for the feasibility study results to be sent back. . It’s a complicated process that can take up to 11 months, and Porsche will pay if its engineers decide that the paint can’t be made. This option is available on all models except Cayenne.
The paint shop in Zuffenhausen, Germany, the factory that made the 911 and 718 (among other models) received a new bank of tinting to keep up with demand. Porsche notes that it will soon be rolling out around 20 painted 911 models per day, up from five before the expansion. And, it adds that choosing a paint color according to a pattern does not increase the time it takes to build a car.
