Porsche Cayenne 2024 is super different but in subtle ways

People love Porsche Cayenne. Sure, there was a long time when purists and snobs liked to criticize it because it wasn’t 911, but those days are mostly over. Now, people realize it’s an incredibly well-designed vehicle. great off-road driving and amazing off-road ability – not most people will do more than drive through puddles – and on Monday Porsche announced a refresh for 2024 that promises to make the Cayenne even better.

While from the outside, it doesn’t seem like much has been done (Porsche places more emphasis on repetition than revolution), but the truth is that this is a huge upgrade for technology and performance, while at the same time bringing the Cayenne more in line with the 992 generation 911 styling. There’s a lot to talk about here, but what I like best is the reintroduction of the V8 to the Cayenne S. Sure, that’s it. the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 we’ve seen on everything from Audis to Lamborghinis, but it’s a stellar engine, so we’re not complaining.

This is definitely not the base model.

In the S version, it will produce an extremely fast 468 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. The base Cayenne has a single turbocharged V6 making 348 hp and 368 lb-ft, which isn’t bad for a base model. Higher trim levels like the Turbo and GT have power figures down to around 600, and of course, there will be hybrid models, both in terms of performance and efficiency.

The interior also gets a whopper of an update. Porsche moved the shifter from the console to the dash and has turns mostly dashes into a series of screens – 12.6-inch curved screen for the driver, 12.3-inch infotainment screen and optional 10.9-inch passenger screen, allowing passengers to watch videos. The driver can’t see what the passengerr viewing due to a special overlay on the screen and keep the whole thing legal. When it comes to dash layout etc., think Taycan and you’re almost there.

Porsche is also adding a number of new advanced driver assistance features (ADAS) to the SUV, including active speed limit assist, which will adjust your speed based on traffic sign information. and dodge assist, which will help with emergency maneuvers between 31 and 93 mph. There’s also a turn assist feature that keeps track of oncoming vehicles when you’re trying to turn left, and as long as you’re accelerating at 6 mph or less, it will brake if it detects a possibility. collide.

Our other favorite thing about the Porsche Cayenne 2024 – aside from the V8 – is Stuttgart’s decision to make more standard equipment available. Porsche is famous for its super-naked base cars, and even then, even some basic features become optional extras. Some people like this approach because it allows for more customization, while others feel like Porsche is blurring them out.

Standard equipment for the base Cayenne now includes LED headlights, Porsche Active Suspension, 20-inch wheels, lane change assist, lane keep assist, comfortable keyless entry and smartphone tray with 15 watt wireless charging. Sounds rad, right? The catch is that the base price is increasing by a significant amount. The base 2023 Cayenne retails for $73,650, including a $1,450 destination fee. The 2024 model will start at $80,850, including a new $1,650 destination fee. So more standard stuff, but you’re paying for it one way or another.

The Porsche Cayenne 2024 is available to order now and is expected to hit dealerships this summer. Keep an eye on the Jalopnik, as we’ll be driving it in a few weeks and I doubt we’ll have much to say about the experience.
