Polestar is starting to roll out more models and its first preview in the future is Commandment, a concept that would become the Polestar 5. That model is still a few years away, but next year we’ll have the Polestar 3, the brand’s first all-electric SUV. And the company has even provided a look with a camouflage prototype.
Although the Polestar 5 will be more closely related to the Precept, the Polestar 3 still borrows many styling cues from the concept. It has a slim, smiley grille and swiped-back headlights that look like a polished version of the “Thor’s Hammer” motif on it. Volvo lights. There’s the hatchback’s roofline, of course, but there’s also the wide rear fence and the rear-facing window lines. But overall looks much shorter and taller. In proportion, it’s almost the same as one Polestar 2 with a hatch.
The SUV will launch in 2022. We expect it to be revealed sometime in the first half of this year and possibly on the market later this year. It will be built at the Volvo plant in Charleston, SC, making it the first American-made Polestar. It will also be the first of three models to launch over the next three years, with the next model being another SUV called the Polestar 4 and the last being the Polestar 5. The only other details Polestar gave about the 3 is that it will come equipped with a lidar sensor and deliver with what we expect to be comparable to Superyacht of GM or Ford’s BlueCruise hands-free highway cruise control.
