Through the fractions: 48.68 and 1:12.42, the flying pony placed third but quickly got ahead of the leaders, taking the lead three laps as they entered the ramp.
Led by Ricardo Santana Jr., the foal went on to compete in the 1 1/16 mile event with a 2 3/4 run in a time of 1:42.31. Apprehend came in second and the Great Escape came in third.
Perfect Flight ($11.40) improved to 3-2-1 from nine starts while his earnings increased to $297,670 for owner Gary Barber.
The foal was bred in Kentucky by Siena Farms out Bernardini mare Date to Remember, who had six winners from six ponies in the race, including a level 3 winner Ensign and grade 1 The star Bernina .
Perfect Flight was a $160,000 purchase by Bluewater Sales from ELiTE shipment for the Fasig-Tipton July Racehorse Sale.
Also on the card are Zia Park Oaks, which Santana won runner-up Bella ‘s 3-year-old daughter gunman Trained by Steve Asmussen for Three Chimneys Farm. She won four races and paid $4.40 after covering 1 1/16 miles in 1:42.13.
